Poland Shaw Dog Supplies Baton Rouge

Our Story
Poland-Shaw Dog Supplies was founded in 1973 by Emmett Poland. Initially a specialty dog store, 99% of the products sold there were for dogs. Demand for pet supplies grew, and Poland-Shaw expanded to operate three retail stores in the Baton Rouge area.
As the market and customer demands changed, so did the product line. Over the years, cat, horse and small animal supplies were added, as well as the production of custom made doghouses.
In 1991, Poland saw the need to make his busy customers' lives a little easier, so he began a shampoo, pick up and delivery service, and later added a boarding facility (all with the encouragement and support of "much better half," wife Frankie).
Today, the cat and horse supplies may be gone, but Poland continues to provide grooming services and specialty products to Baton Rouge area pets with the same care and affection that earned him his nickname, "Uncle Emmett."

"It's very comforting to know Annie is enjoying her vacation with Uncle Emmett as much as we are enjoying ours."
We have been boarding our 8-year-old maltipoo, Annie, with Emmett for five years. Her "vacations" with him have ranged from three days to five weeks. Emmett is reliable, prompt – and his costs are very reasonable. What we enjoy most, however, is seeing how happy our Annie is when Emmett picks her up. She runs out of our house directly to his van.
Emmett is the only one we trust when we leave town. It is very comforting to know that Annie is enjoying her vacation as much as we are enjoying ours. We highly recommend him to our friends.
